Richard Downing Housh, age 76, of Naples, Florida, and Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home in Cincinnati on Monday, August 4, 2025. Born on Nov 1, 1948, in Monroe, Ohio, Richard was the beloved son of William and Lenora Housh. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1966 and went on to earn a degree from Miami University.
On November 25, 1967, he married Jennifer A. Tibbs at Monroe Methodist Church in Monroe, Ohio, who survives him. Richard proudly served his country in the Naval Reserve.
He then joined his family’s business in 1974 and in 1978 he established his own business in Lebanon, Ohio. He went on to lead and innovate in the emerging industry of computerized controls and energy management. As a business owner, he was a generous mentor and launched many successful careers in the field. He retired in 2022 after 45 years of entrepreneurship.
He was a lifetime community builder, serving on the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Collier County, FL. Richard was an avid cyclist and founded an organization called Naples Pathway Coalition which advocated for safe pathways for biking. He was actively involved in promoting nature preservation and the arts in his community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Housh; his sons Jason, Joshua (Yuri Ono), and Richard Housh; his granddaughters Haley and Camille Housh; and his brothers Michael and William Housh and their families. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald Housh. Celebration of Life Services will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at The Countryside YMCA, 1699 Deerfield Rd., Lebanon, OH 45306.
